Natural Collection is a brand I loved as a teenager first delving into make-up. I remember being obsessed with their Sheer Natural Lipstick, collecting as many colours as I could for the bargain £1.99 price tag - that’s probably where my lipstick obsession began! But as I started to experiment with make-up and try out different beauty brands I gradually forgot about Natural Collection, only recently I quickly picked up their clear mascara when looking for a product to set my eyebrows. I wouldn’t have thought about intentionally picking up any products from Natural Collection, I think many people would agree and relate the brand back to their teenage days which is why it has quite an out-dated brand identity now. I was recently sent some products from Natural Collection* to try out and I was interested to see if my view on the brand had changed!
Natural Collection believes in keeping make-up simple with fuss-free application to achieve an effortless look. As we’re approaching summer I’ve been trying products that will help to attain a healthy radiant glow and flawless summer base in three easy steps.
Step One: Base_
The first step involves using the Natural Collection Tinted Moisturiser to give a sheer and even coverage. This comes in three shades: natural, fair and beige. I have the lightest shade ‘Natural’ which is unfortunately a little too dark for my skin tone. The shades are limited and I’d love to see more colours available, but with a tan this product would be perfect. I don’t typically use a tinted moisturiser so this was something different for me but it definitely gives a natural-looking finish. It’s great for those days when you don’t want the hassle of applying heavy foundation. I have slightly oily skin and this has quite a shiny finish so I would only use this with powder on top. However, it would be ideal if you have dry skin and you’re looking for a product that is light and gives you a natural glow.
Once you’ve applied the tinted moisturiser, the next step involves applying Natural Collection Pressed Powder to set your base. This comes in the shades warm, neutral and cool. I have the shade ‘Warm’, which again is slightly too dark for my skin tone but apart from this I am quite pleased with this product. I apply it with a powder brush from Real Techniques and sweep it on top of my foundation where needed. The finish is very light and it manages to keep my base set and looking matte.
Step Two: Bronze_
_Step Three: Blush
Now your base is ready to go, the next step is to apply the Natural Collection Suntint Bronzing Powder. This comes in two shades: golden glow and sun shine. I have the shade ‘Golden Glow’ which is a warm brown tone with a glittery effect. I prefer to use matte bronzers so I was a little hesitant about the shimmer in this, but if you apply it sparingly it actually isn’t too harsh. I apply this to the hollows of my cheeks and find it stays in place throughout the day, giving me a soft and subtle glow.
The final step is to apply the Natural Collection Blusher, which comes in six shades. I use the shade ‘Pink Cloud’ and apply this to the top of my cheekbones for a subtle pop of colour. This is my favourite product of the bunch as it’s so pigmented and such a lovely shade. It’s great for everyday wear and applies very smoothly and evenly to finish off a natural every-day look for Summer.
For just £1.99, these products are great value for money. My favourites would be the bronzer and blusher as the base products are sadly not the right shade for me. For a budget brand, the quality is very impressive and I would even consider properly browsing the stand next time I'm in-store. You can find Natural Collection in Boots stores and online.
