I'm currently feeling inspired by everything holographic or iridescent, so I wanted to devote a blog post to the futuristic trend of the moment! I've created some shimmering wishlists of my favourite items, which were not all that easy to find although ASOS have some wonderful pieces. I understand this trend isn't everyone’s cup of tea, maybe because it’s doesn't really fit into the everyday-wear category, however, I've focused on including some items which are also a bit more subtle and less ultra-crazy.
The trend was introduced during the Spring/Summer 2013 collections from Burberry Prorsum – yeah, the show that reminded many people of Quality Street wrappers! Hugo Boss also went digital with iridescent panelled dresses. Jonathan Saunders designed my favourite pieces, including a striped holographic crop top. It’s fair to say the trend is getting bigger already - I found so many bags and iPhone cases that featured the holographic print. This Stella McCartney faux leather iPhone sleeve is a massive £120 (way out of my budget!) but I just had to include it because I love it that much. How amazing is the Nastygal/Cheap Monday bag though?!
Whilst browsing the ASOS website, I came across these two holographic-beauties. The ASOS Tunic with Hologram PU Collar has just been put into the 50% off sale, but unfortunately the black version has sold out. This tee is perfect for just a subtle hint of iridescence. These skinny trousers have an understated metallic print and would look lovely with a basic crop top. I missed out a little something from these wishlists, the Models Own Beetlejuice Nail Polish which is sooo dream-like. The whole trend reminds me of oil spills and rainbows, what’s not to love?!
What are your thoughts on the holographic trend?
